How to use your ARAG benefit

Use this short sequence. It is not a promise of coverage.

  1. Start a case with ARAG through the member portal, the ARAG Legal app, or Customer Care. After ARAG confirms coverage for that matter, you receive a CaseAssist confirmation with a CaseAssist confirmation number (ARAG’s public member materials also refer to a case number on explanations of benefits).
  2. Call CBM at (805) 915-4793 and give the office that CaseAssist confirmation number and your Member ID.
  3. Ask what your ARAG plan shows, and ask the firm what it can accept, before any work begins.

A CaseAssist confirmation number, your Member ID, and a short note that you have an ARAG legal plan are enough for the first call. Do not email account numbers or a full member file.

Coverage, the people who are eligible, and any cost that stays with you depend on the member’s plan. Check your ARAG plan. This guide cannot tell you that a will, a trust, or any other document is included.

Estate planning services CBM provides

These are services the firm already describes on this site. Naming them here does not mean ARAG covers that service:

  • Living trusts
  • Wills
  • Powers of attorney
  • Advance health care directives
  • Trust funding
  • Trust administration

A member’s plan may relate to some estate planning work and not to other work. The firm will not tell you a service is covered until your plan and the matter have been checked.

A properly funded trust, not a probate practice

CBM may help families avoid probate when the trust is properly funded. Signing a trust does not, by itself, change how a house or an account is titled. Funding is the step that puts property where the plan says it belongs.

The firm does not offer probate services. If a matter needs the probate court, that work is outside this practice. An ARAG legal plan does not change that limit.
